Melissa Heidebrecht OT. Reg. (Ont.)

Melissa Heidebrecht is a Registered Occupational Therapist working in private practice in the Durham Region community. Holding a Masters of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto and a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology (Honours) from the University of Waterloo, and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, Melissa has been a dedicated Occupational Therapist since 2005.

Expertise in Hand and Arm Rehabilitation

Melissa has spent the majority of her 20 years as an OT assisting individuals with arm, wrist, hand and finger injuries and dysfunction.  In her many years at St. Michaels Hospital, Southlake Regional Health Centre and Lakeridge Health Centre she has helped countless individuals recover from both devastating acute injuries and chronic conditions, enabling them to maximize their daily function. 

Promoting Healthy Child Development

Melissa also has a passion for working with children and has extensive experience working in the community with children and families, addressing fine motor, sensory processing and behavioral challenges in both home and school settings.

Guiding Future Therapists

Beyond her clinical practice, Melissa is actively involved in professional education and sharing her knowledge with the next generation of professionals.  Currently serving as a Sessional Professor in the OTA/PTA program at Durham College, she enjoys imparting her knowledge and passion for Occupational Therapy to the next generation of students.
